Performance Values
Workshop

What can performance values do for your organization?

Performance Values define how professionals operate within the operating model to make optimal contributions. In matrix organizations, professionals contribute, collaborate, and transact within and between teams daily, so how a professional
works with others either contributes to or detracts from performance. Performance Values foster productive relationships within and between teams of professionals. Performance Values describe the behavioral qualities and characteristics that optimize performance in a matrix organization.

I have facilitated the performance values development exercise with many organizations of different sizes, types, and industries, and the results are almost always similar. The reason for this common outcome seems obvious. High-quality professionals want to:

  1. Work with other high-quality professionals.

  2. Work for a company with a future of expanding professional and financial opportunities.

  3. Work for a company with a brand and culture that is transparent and has integrity.

  4. Know their contributions will be valued, assessed, and recognized fairly.

  5. Work in a high-functioning, transparent system with limited bureaucracy and competent leadership.

Once established, performance values contribute to the organization's hiring, promotion, performance, investment, and related business decisions. When consistently applied, they become a significant part of the organization's positive identity and leadership performance assessment.
